Bangkok Fighter

In 2020, we were asked to create a Street Fighter-themed game with a Thai feel – Bangkok Fighter. The challenge was to make the game feel like a true fighting game, capturing the action, sound, and sense of achievement.

I started with a draft of the main character based on my research on Muay Thai. Working closely with the 3D artist, we brought my initial sketch to life as an animated character. I also guided the sound designer in creating an amazing soundscape for the game, incorporating homages to Street Fighter. For achievements, we had the idea of making villains into level stages. To streamline the process, I first sketched out the villain concepts. Our 2D artist then used these sketches to create the initial digital designs. I followed up by adding the final touches and polish to those digital illustrations.

I really liked how everything turned out in the end. Our 2D artist did an amazing job with the diverse stage backgrounds, based on the concepts we developed together. It was a truly great project that showcased our team’s amazing effort and growth.

I did the content writing/storytelling for all our games. I leave you with the introduction excerpt I wrote for this game’s game sheet:
