123Goal!

In late 2020, our team was challenged to create a soccer-themed slot game. Now, for most slot players, soccer or sports-themed games aren’t inherently groundbreaking. That is, until we introduced bobbleheads that literally play on top of the reels!

Having previously worked with a sportsbook-led betting company, I knew this unique concept would be a hit with similar operators who combine sports and slots in their promotions.

To bring my vision to life, I started by sketching the bobblehead characters. Our talented 2D artist then digitized and animated them, capturing their playful personalities perfectly. I also guided our 3D artist in creating a dynamic background and logo, pushing the boundaries of visual design in the process. One of the things I love most about this game is the seamless blend of 2D and 3D elements, creating a truly immersive experience.

One of the biggest challenges we faced was ensuring the responsive positioning of the soccer field where the characters play during spins. It was crucial to ensure everything fit perfectly in every browser orientation and size. I worked closely with our front-end developers to overcome this hurdle. They did an outstanding job making the game run seamlessly on both landscape and portrait views, incorporating extra animations and details that brought the game to life.

I did the content writing/storytelling for all our games. I leave you with the introduction excerpt I wrote for this game’s game sheet:
